Albert “Al” Rogers, 68, of Pensacola, Florida passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 28, 2015. Al was born on February 1, 1947 in Bremerton, Washington to Andrew and Marlyn Rogers. He graduated from Kipsap County High School in 1965. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1966 and served his country for 24 years with duty stations in San Diego, California, 6 tours; Okinawa, Japan, 2 tours; Willow Grove, Pennsylvania; Point Mugu, California, and Millington Tennessee, 2 tours, retiring in Millington Tennessee in 1990. After retiring he worked civil service for 17 years with NAMTRAGRU. In 1996, his job moved him and his family to Pensacola, Florida where he retired from civil service in 2009. He was a member of the OAEA, VXE-6 Association, Fleet Reserves and a life member of American Legion Post 240.
Al was preceded in death by his father Andy, mother Marlyn and sister Carol Rogers. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Tina, son Eric (Leisa) of Cordova, Tennessee; Stephen Rogers and Robert Rogers of Tennessee; sisters Barbara Smith of Poulsbo, Washington and JoAnn Belis (Carlos) of Seabeck, Washington and brother Charles Rogers of Hunters, Washington; 2 great grandchildren, Blake and Hailey; great stepson Michael (Daniela) and great granddaughter Sophia and many nieces and nephews.
Al loved life and was a loving husband and dad. He loved working in the yard, his 1940 Dodge and being a Ham radio operator. He will be missed but the memories of him will be in our hearts forever. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Post 240.
