Alfred was born July 11, 1926, in Cavite City, Philippines, the son of Bonifacio and Rufina Talob. He enlisted in the United States Navy in the Philippines during World War II, beginning a career that would span decades of dedicated service in personnel administration. He rose through the ranks to ultimately retire at the rank of Chief Petty Officer.
On July 8, 1951, in Cavite City, he married the love of his life, Norma. Together they raised their family across Hawaii and California before settling in Pensacola, Florida, in the 1960s.
Even in retirement, Chief Talob remained an active and beloved presence in the Pensacola community. He was a familiar, smiling face across NAS Pensacola, regularly greeting sailors at the NEX, finding success on the bowling lanes, and visiting his favorite servers at Another Broken Egg and Waffle House. Just weeks ago, on July 11, 2026, he celebrated his 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends who gathered to honor his remarkable life and legacy of service.
Alfred was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Norma; his daughter, Cheryl; and his grandson, Seth.
