Obituary of Alice Edith Burns
Alice E. Burns, 89, of Fairhope, AL, formerly of Pensacola, Fl., passed away on August 29, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones. Alice is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William (Bill) Burns, her parents, William and Sarah Martindale. Her brothers William and Robert Martindale. And special friend of many years, Donald Brock. She is survived by her sons, William Burns Jr., daughter-in-law, Janet, of Carrabelle, Fl, and Edward Burns, daughter-in-law Roxanne of Fairhope, AL. Her grandchildren, Heather (Aaron) Swearingen and Sara (Keith) Nolan both of AL, Morgan (Jacob) Hamacher of GA, and Ryan (Victoria) Burns of LA. Also by her great-grandchildren, Jake and Haleigh Swearingen, Everly, Kinsey and Cameron Nolan and Declan Burns. Alice and husband Bill traveled extensively both with the Navy and in retirement. They were avid RV campers and visited the entire contiguous United States and most of Canada. She loved spending time with the "Grands" as well as reading, square dancing, singing and playing the piano. She enjoyed making new friends and spent over 2000 hours volunteering at the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola. She also volunteered at the St. Vincent De Paul food Pantry at St Anne's Catholic Church. Visitation and Memorial Service will be on October 28th from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 New Warrington Rd., Pensacola, FL. A Graveside Service will follow at 1:30 at Barrancas National Cemetery where she will rest alongside her husband Bill. We ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola and the St. Vincent De Paul food Pantry at St Anne's Catholic Church in Pensacola.
