

Hazel Furman.
She was a child star in Vaudeville in Los Angeles where she did acrobatic dancing, ballet and tap dancing. She went to Whittier College with a major in Music and minor in Mathematics.
She became a professional musician and played the circuit from Los Angeles to San Diego with Swing music. While on a blind date in San Diego she met her husband, Cdr. John M. Naureckas and they travelled around the world and state-side through the military. In most duty stations she was the President of the Officers Wives Club and Chairman/President of the local Red Cross. She entertained at many of the military stations with her music. She was an accomplished seamstress, a gourmet cook, she taught at Pensacola’s Warrington Jr. High in the 1960’s and worked at the post office in the Naval Hospital Pensacola for many years.
She is survived by her brother Walter Furman, CA and daughters Nancy Naureckas Wills, WA and Laura Naureckas Wolfersperger with her husband Kim Wolfersperger, FL; grandchildren Stacy Newton Kelly, WA and Wendy Newton Lodge, HI; three great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. The family would like to give thanks for the wonderful care given by Joyce Glass, Emma Hughes, Heather Mitchell, Southern Oaks Skilled Nursing Facility and all the wonderful people working there, Nurse Marge Lopez, CNA Jackie Simmons, CNA Erica Lewis, the Regency Hospice workers Dana, Elise, Mike and Christy. Special thanks also to the Oak Lawn Funeral Home Family.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a funeral service to follow. An interment will be at 12 pm at Barrancas National Cemetery following the service. Oak Lawn Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
