Amy Aspero Calkins, 89, of Pensacola, died Thursday, May 12, 2011 at a local hospital.
Amy was born July 04, 1921 in Brewton, Alabama to John Warren Dixon and Mary Lynn Dixon. She retired from Pensacola Junior College after 20 years of employment. Amy was a member of First Baptist Church of Milton and later Hillcrest Baptist Church. She always gave of herself, putting others ahead of herself. Amy loved to crochet and was an avid reader and Yatzee player. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Jim Aspero and her second husband, Roy Calkins.
Survivors include her sons, Jim Aspero (Joan) of Huntsville, TX, Phil Calkins (Brenda) of Kentucky and Steve Calkins of Milton, FL; daughters, Sheron A. Cianciotto (Andy) of Pensacola, Linda A. Thomas of Destin, FL, Lisa A. Williams (Don) of Pensacola, FL and Lynn Cooley (Kenneth) of North Carolina; brother, John Dixon, Jr. (Nell) of Pensacola, FL; sisters, Rae Berquist of Lindsborg, KS, Mary Officer (Charles) of Wethersfield, CT and Betty Long of Martinez, GA; 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel with Reverend Pat Mobley officiating.
Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
