Born in Saltville, Virginia, he was the son of Hattie Ellen Kelly Gillenwater and Arthur Clarence Gillenwater.
Pat started his work with Raytheon in Bristol Tennessee followed by a year with Maxson Macon in Macon Georgia. In 1968 he moved his family to Pensacola Florida where he started his work with Westinghouse as a Quality Control Manager. He retired in 1997 but returned to work as a contractor in 1998 sharing his knowledge in manufacturing products at Westinghouse plants in Missouri and New Hampshire.
He was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed hunting in Alabama and fishing in the Gulf waters. Pat will be remembered for his kind, loving heart, extraordinary personality and quick-witted sense of humor.
He is survived by his daughter Helen Gillenwater Gleason (Pat) and son Mack Gillenwater (Christie), grandchildren Monica Sims, Bobby Gleason, Austin Gillenwater, great grandchildren Zack Sims and Braden Sims. Great-great grandchildren Brody Gillenwater, Zackary Sims Jr. and Carter Sims. He is predeceased by wife Maxine Gillenwater and son Patrick Gary Gillenwater.
The memorial and graveside service will be held at Eastern Gate Memorial on August 19 at 9:00 a.m. 1985 W 9 Mile Rd, Pensacola FL. The memorial will be from 9:00 till 10:00 followed by a brief graveside service.
