Barbara Anita (Dixie) Boyd Morris passed away August 5, 2025 at the age of 70, surrounded by her loving family. Dixie was born August 16,1954 in Pensacola, FL to William “Dub” Boyd and Jacqueline “Jackie” Boyd.
Dixie was the only girl in a family that included 4 boys, and could hold her own with them. She attended Pensacola High School. While she was married to Vaughn Morris, Dixie gave birth to her daughter, Kimberly Dawn Morris, which was one of the proudest moments of her life. Dixie’s career led her to work in the family auto body shop as a secretary and bookkeeper.
Dixie loved deeply and family was her most important treasure. Dixie loved irises, watching hummingbirds from her porch, and anything that was purple! Spending time with family was her favorite thing to do, and she welcomed everyone with a hug. She hosted many holiday gatherings and always made sure her famous deviled eggs and fruit trays were on hand. Her daughter gave her the most precious gift when she gave birth to her granddaughter, Kaitlin. Recently, Kaitlin and her fiancée, Lane Sims, blessed Dixie with a great-grandson, Keaton Todd King. Dixie would always light up when Kaitlin brought him to visit.
The family is eternally grateful to the nurses, CNAs, and staff at The Havens at Pensacola for their loving care and devotion to Dixie. We are grateful for her personal angel, Janet Suggs, who always made sure Dixie got her morning coffee and a lovingly prepared lunch on the days she had to go to dialysis. Dixie received wonderful medical care for many years from Dr. Saul Ullman, Dr. Sunil Gupta, Dr. Mark Grise, Dr. Ghosn Issa, Nephrology Associates of the Gulf Coast, DaVita Dialysis staff at West Florida Hospital, and the Vitas Healthcare staff. We also want to thank her very close friend Claudia Shuttleworth for frequently visiting her and calling to check up on her.
Dixie was preceded in death by her father and mother, William (“Dub”) and Jacqueline (“Jackie”) Boyd, her daughter Kimberly King, and her brothers Dan Boyd and Tim Boyd. Those left to cherish her memory include her granddaughter Kaitlin King (Lane Sims), great-grandson Keaton King, brother Bill Boyd (Kathy), brother Rick Boyd (Judy), sister-in-law Linda Boyd, cousins, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until service time at 11:00 am at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Paul Fowler, Greg Helms, Jason Boyd, Spencer Foster, Lane Sims and Steve Keszthelyi.
Interment will be at Bayview Memorial Park.
