“Doug” Fulford was born in Berkeley, California, but he and his two brothers Frank and Paul were raised all over his beloved home state of Georgia. After graduating high school Doug joined the United States Marine Corps with Okinawa being one of his favorite duty stations. Shortly afterwards he met the woman he would love and spend the next 60 years of his life with – Linda Jane Rudder. Doug and Jane moved to Pensacola Florida where Doug would embark on a career that he was very proud of: working for Gulf Power Company. In middle age Doug re-embarked on a second career in the military by joining the reserves. He did a short stint in the National Guard and ultimately ended up in the Air Force Reserves at Duke Field. Going on deployments with the Air Force was a source of great pride and fulfilment. Doug was a man of faith and was very involved with the two main churches his family attended growing up, Liberty and East Brent Baptist. Doug loved all things outdoors. He loved animals and even called himself an amateur herpetologist. His passion was fishing. He spread this love of the outdoors to his family through numerous camping and fishing trips. A lot more could be said about our dad but everything in life boiled down to the love and joy and pride he had in his family. In referring to his family he often said he was one of the most blessed men in the entire world. Doug loved his family and his family loved him. All the way to the end his children would come over to visit and eat and play games. Both Doug and Jane considered raising Godly children and keeping the family close the greatest priority of their lives and they succeeded! Doug was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Angela just months ago. It is our joy and comfort that they are now together! Doug is survived by his wife, Jane, who lovingly cared for him to the very end. He is also survived by his son Doug (Melissa-Isaac, Ben and Eli) his daughter Mindy (Jim-Andrew and Juliana) his son Josh (Elizabeth-Caleb Rachel Olivia Jeremiah Esther Joy) and his son Daniel (Joy). Doug is also survived by five great-grandchildren-(Caleb and Lizzie-Judah Evelyn Naomi) (Rachel and Ben-Benaiah) (Benjamin-Avery Grace). Everyone who knew Doug knew he was full of life and loved to tell stories! He will be greatly missed by his family, and by everyone who knew him!
