

1919 – 2010
Bertice Jewel Williams McLeod passed away peacefully on June 1, 2010 with her daughters by her side. She was born on March 25, 1919 in Moore’s Bridge, Alabama to Mack C. Gilliland and Ida Hinton Gilliland.
Bertice, also called “Bert”, was known for her beautiful smile that would light up a room. Bert was a loving, caring, smart and strong person. She was a wonderful southern cook and shared her love of cooking with her family. All of her girls spent time learning her kitchen secrets. Family was very important to her and she taught her family to treasure each other and spend as much time as possible together. She also enjoyed music and dance.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Cecil Williams and her second husband Andin Capps McLeod.
Survivors include her daughters, Faye Williams Groves (Jack) of Pensacola and Jeannine Williams Maloy Bartlett of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Surviving grandchildren are Leslie Groves Kahn (Louis), Debbie Maloy Peck (Steve), Suzanne Groves Johnson and Stephanie Groves, all of Pensacola and John Kelly Maloy (Tory) of Berwyn, Illinois. Surviving Great-Grandchildren are Ashley and Alan Kahn, Amber and Molly Johnson and Olivia and Elizabeth Maloy.
We wish to thank the staffs of Wesley Haven Villa Assisted Living Facility, Assisting Seniors, and Joyce Goldenberg Hospice Inpatient Residence for the wonderful care they provided.
Visitation will be on Sunday, June 6th at 2:00 pm at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel with services following at 3:00 pm. Pallbearers will be Jack Groves, Louis Kahn and Danny Groves. In lieu of flowers you may donate to the Fountain of Love Fund at Wesley Haven Villa or Covenant Hospice.
