Betty graduated College from Kansas City College and later became a teacher’s aide in the public school system for some time. She also worked at University Hospital with admitting and in the print shop at Sacred Heart Hospital. She was an exceptional artist and worked for Hallmark cards as an embossing and film specialist, making a salary equivalent to 6K a month. She worked to support her family for a long time, finally retiring at the age of 82.
Betty loved art, and was good at it too. Her other hobbies include bingo, working puzzles, going to casinos, and sewing for many of her family members. She was also an avid traveler. She has been to many places including the Bahamas and Hawaii.
Betty was very generous, forgiving, and courageous. She will be remembered by her emotional fortitude and resilience to believe that she would get through anything and be alright. This was shown when she lost 3 of her children in a fire in 1958 and was burned on 80% of her body. But she bounced back and had 6 more kids within 6 years and held the family together as best as she could. She was even tempered and kept her cool in common crisis that a life with 6 kids provides.
