Betty J. Matthews

Betty Jean Matthews, 82, passed away April 12, 2016, after a brief illness. Betty was born to Daniel and Eula Kersh on July 19, 1933, in Kilgore, Texas. Betty was affectionately know by her family and friends as The Bear. Betty loved her family, and her family loved her. Lou and Betty were blessed with two sons, Bain and Danny.

Betty lived a fulfilling life. Betty was an original Kilgore Rangerette. She was a valued employee of Pensacola Loan and Savings Bank and Attorney's Title. Betty was a cheerleading coach for Myrtle Grove Ballpark.

Betty is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Courtney and her former husband, Lou. Betty is survived by her sons, Bain and Danny; her daughter-in-laws, Linda and Debi; four granddaughters, Mendi, Kristin, Megan and Melanie; and 4 great grandchildren Palmer, Raelin, Grant and Reed, and many nieces and nephews in the extended family.

Visitation will be from 1-2PM on Friday, April 15, 2016 at OAK LAWN FUNERAL HOME. Funeral service will start at 2PM. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park. Dr. Wesley Wachob will officiate Betty's service.
