Billy Kersh January 5, 1940—May 22, 2020

Billy Kersh (80) broke his earthly bonds on May 22, 2020 at West Florida Hospital in-house Hospice. He passed peacefully in his sleep after a short illness. He was husband to his loving wife, Linda Gail. They shared 60 years of marriage together.

Billy was born in Itta Bena, MS. He was son of John Franklin and Edna Kersh. He resided for several years in Harvey, Louisiana before settling in Pensacola, Florida. He had a long career as a welder and, following retirement, he worked at Manheim Auto Auction. He was a member of the Ensley Masonic Lodge #15FAM and enjoyed riding his motorcycle with the Pensacola Sunrunners and the Emerald Coast Riders motorcycle clubs. He liked working with his hands, camping, watching westerns with his dog, Smokie, and playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a life-long teaser and hard- working man.

He is proceeded in death by his parents: John Franklin and Edna Kersh; siblings: Gradylee, Karon, Edward “Doc” Turnage, Leo, twin sister Betty; and grandson Michael Adam Steele.

He is survived by wife, Linda; sister, Zettieruth Nash; children: Christine (Mark), and Frank (Zarina); Grandchildren: Nichole (David) Boardwyne, Elisha (Apollo), Hensel, Anastasia and Jeremy Harden; Great-grandchildren: Samson, Willow, Ananiah Mae, and Eden Faith; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

I was very sorry to hear of Billy's passing today. I worked with him at Manheim and even though we didn't talk too much, he had some good stories and some good jokes. I'm very sorry for your loss and loved looking through all those pictures of Billy playing with his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. He was one cool dude! Thinking of you all.

Billy was a good man as always family first. I worked with Linda at Baptist Hospital at least 25 years. Whenever he visited his doctors he would come by with a smile to see Linda. He will be missed by his love ones.

I just received word about Billie passing and it was quite a shock to me to say the least. I have never known a more hard working person than Billie. I have known Billie for a very long time and not one bad thing comes to my mind. He was my brother-in-law and I could not have asked for a better one. One thing I recall about him was his fondness for banana pudding. He enjoyed it more than anything. When he would come by our house, his sister would always make him some. He will surely be missed. My heart goes out to his family. May God be with them during this time of mourning.

My condolences to all the family. Billie was definitely a good person, always willing to help. Thankfully I was able to talk to him about a month ago when he came by the house. The world will be worse for the loss of a person like him.

Linda and Christine, I'm so sorry to hear about Billy, we worked a lot together at Runyan. He taught me a lot and he was my friend. I moved away years ago but had spoken to him and Steve when Michael passed. He told me to come visit y'all. I wish I had... prayers to your family... sincerely, Michael Helton
