Bruce Charles Thompson

1947 – 2013

Bruce C. Thompson was born on March 14, 1947 to the late Charles & Jeanne Thompson in Payson, IL. Bruce passed away on Nov. 09, 2013 at the age of 66.

He is survived by his wife, Fredericka (Freddie) Willis Thompson of 43 years; son, Jason Thompson; daughter, Dianna (Preston) Pallas; son, Brian Thompson; daughter, Betty Jeanne (Dallas) Stearns; 7 grandchildren; brother, David (Sue) Thompson of Cape Coral, FL; sister, Lucinda (Larry) Otte of La Veta, CO; and stepsister, Christine Hall-Strube of Ferguson, MO.

Bruce was raised in Quincy, IL where he attended Quincy Senior HS and Southern Illinois Univ. in Carbondale, IL. He served his country honorably in Vietnam.

He retired from West FL Regional Planning Council as a Housing Inspector. He later worked part time as a merchandiser for Driveline.

Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 15 followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. A private service will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery at a later date. Pallbearers will be Kerry Morgan, Ron Jansen, Michael McAllister, Randy Tronu, Buddy Merritt, and Jimbo Jolly.

Bruce was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and a volunteer at the St. Vincent de Paul Alfred Washburn Center. He was a member of the FSA Hunting Club.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. John’s the Evangelist Catholic School in Warrington. Oak Lawn Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
