Carl Wayne Murdy, 63, went to be with the Lord on October 16, 2013. Carl was born in West Plains, MO on August 22, 1950 and moved to Pensacola the summer of 1975. He was the owner and operator of Murdy Construction Company for 35 years. He was also a commercial fisherman for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Louise Murdy and brother David Murdy. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sonja Lou Murdy; daughter Gaye Sweat, two sons, Daniel Murdy and Carlos (Jamie) Murdy; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild; brother, Jerry (Elaine) Murdy; sister Sheila (Keary) Allen and numerous nieces and nephews all of Pensacola and one special cousin Dennis Murdy of Peoria, IL. Pallbearers will be Daniel Murdy, Carlos Murdy, Marcus Sweat, Jerry Murdy Jr., John Murdy and Christopher Murdy. Visitation will be on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 7:000 pm at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013 at 3:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Brandon McMackin officiating.
