Carol Ann Longen
May 19, 1940 – June 14, 2020
Carol Ann Longen, 80, of Tampa passed away Sunday June 14, 2020. She was born May 19th, 1940 in Ladysmith, Wisconsin to Dominick and Kathleen “Kay” DeNucci. She married her one and only love, Richard Alan Longen on March 8th 1958 who preceded her in death in March of 2015. Carol was fulfilled in life as the wife of Richard Alan Longen and mother to their 5 children. She made a beautiful home and doted on her family every day of her life. Carol’s two favorite things were babies and Christmas and she couldn’t get enough of either. It was fitting that she was blessed with 5 children, 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, countless puppies and 79 Christmases. Carol loved arts and crafts. She spent many hours crocheting, quilting, painting, sewing and coloring. When she was quilting her loved ones would jostle for their place in line to be one of the lucky recipients. Carol thoroughly enjoyed gardening and diligently tended to her plants and flowers. African Violets were her favorite. She was an avid baker. Her legendary Chocolate Chip cookies, Christmas cookies and Pineapple Upside-down cake will all be fondly missed. Most everything that interested Carol revolved around loving, caring and nurturing. To the people that were lucky enough to know her, she was simply the kindest person in their lives. Carol was a giver. Her gentle kindness and thoughtfulness set wonderful examples for her loved ones to emulate. Carol was preceded in death by her husband Richard Alan Longen; her parents Dominick and Kathleen “Kay” DeNucci; son-in-law Durwood Dyson (Shorty); daughter-in-law Colleen Longen and grandson Timothy Ryan Dyson. Carol leaves behind to cherish her memory her children Richard Longen Jr. (Kristine), Denise Dyson, Susan Pallas (Jeff), Steven Longen (Tamara) and Jerry Longen (Noelle); her grandchildren Amy Dyson, Christopher Longen, Ian Longen, Jared Pallas, Samantha Dyson, Nicholas Pallas, Liam Longen, Chance Longen and Trevor Ostendorf; her great grandchildren Dallen Longen, Atticus Dyson, Jackson Pallas, Stella Pallas, Madelyn Pallas, Grayson Pallas and Cohen Longen; her sisters Deborah DeNucci and Sharon DeNucci; and her extended Longen, DeNucci and Blaisdell family in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm Saturday June 27, 2020 at Blount and Curry Funeral Home, 605 S MacDill Ave. Tampa, FL 33609. Celebration of life Saturday the 27th from 5pm-9pm at Rooftop 220: 220 W 7th Ave. Tampa, FL 33602. 3rd Floor (bldg. adjacent to Armature Works) Interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, FL on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Polycystic Kidney Foundation at pkdcure.org.

Dear Longen Family,
Sorry we can’t be with you to celebrate your Mother’s life. Cousin Carol Ann was a special grown up cousin to me. She always reminded me of a famous movie star of the 60’s, Connie Francis. Carol Ann was a special, caring person. I was so glad that my Mom, my brother Bob and his wife Bing and I were able to stop in Pensacola to visit your Mom and Dad years back before your Dad passed.
Our love goes out to all of you and your families.
