Carolyn Marshall Byrne died Wednesday, August 5, 2015. Carolyn grew up on Bayou Davenport in Warrington and loved crabbing and swimming to White Island with her many childhood friends. Some were not thrilled with the swim but she urged them on and they enjoyed every minute. One of her friends said that Carolyn made childhood magical. Carolyn attended Turner Lee Day, Warrington Middle School and was a member to the first class to start and finish at Escambia High School. She received several scholastic achievement awards from the Florida Junior Chamber of Commerce and she was a member of the Honor Society while attending Escambia High School. She enrolled in Pensacola Junior College where she made the Dean's List. Carolyn then transferred to Judson Teachers College, graduating in 1965 Cum Laude. Carolyn married Ensign Patrick L. Byrne May 8, 1965 and three months later joined him in their new home (Quonset hut) in Kenitra, Morocco. Following their Naval service Patrick entered Auburn University while Carolyn taught in a rural school in Camp Hill, Alabama. When Patrick graduated, Carolyn received her "PHT" (Putting Hubby Through) degree from the Auburn Civil Engineering Department. Following a seven year stint in Tampa, Florida, Carolyn returned to her treasured Bayou Davenport in Pensacola where she and Patrick lived in a Camper Trailer for eight years while they built their own home. Carolyn decorated the home with furnishings from the places they had lived and from family garages and auction houses. Walking through the home one gets an intimate knowledge of Carolyn and the people and things that were so important in her life. God surrounds us with his love from birth to eternity. Carolyn surrounded her family with her love and we will always have that love to sustain us. She was preceded in death by her father, Earl R. Marshall Sr. and her mother Jane Power Marshall. She is survived by her husband of more than fifty years, Patrick L. Byrne, her sisters Beverly Beaumont(Don) and Judy Lenderman (Dan) and her brother Earl R. Marshall, Jr. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, too many to be listed here. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Carolyn's name to St. John's Episcopal Church, Warrington or to the church or charity of your choice .
