

Mrs. Carlson was born in Pago Pago, American Samoa on July 30, 1930. She graduated from the Dominican Convent, San Rafael, California and attended Hollins College, Roanoke, VA. She married Harry F. Carlson, Jr. on January 28, 1949. She was employed as a secretary, office services supervisor and paralegal with several different companies in Atlanta, Georgia until she retired in 1989, at which time she and Harry moved to Gulf Breeze, FL. They attended the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church.
In 2005 they moved to Gainesville, Georgia where they attended St. Paul United Methodist Church. Caryl was a volunteer with the Gulf Breeze Hospital for 13 years and at the North Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
Mrs. Carlson was preceded in death by her husband, Harry.
Her survivors include a son, Clayton Michael Carlson (his wife Lisa and son Cameron), of Orinda, California, and a daughter, Christine Augusta Carlson, of Marietta, Georgia.
Internment and graveside services with a Navy Chaplain will be held later at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, FL.
Oak Lawn Funeral Home of Pensacola, FL is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of the donor's choice or the National Museum of Naval Aviation.
