CHARLES MILUS BENTON 1930-2019
Charles went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, June 30, 2019. Charles was born on Friday, March 21, 1930, in Tallassee, Alabama, to Marvin F. Benton, Sr. and Vivian Reeves Benton.
In 1942, Charles and his family moved to Pensacola where he continued his education graduating from Pensacola High School in 1948. Soon after his graduation, he was called to join the Army. He left Pensacola and was headed for Fort Jackson, South Carolina. After some time there, he was sent to Kaiserslautern, Germany. He enjoyed his stay in Germany because there were several occasions where he could travel to Switzerland and the surrounding areas. After he arrived back home, he went to work for the U.S. Government at the local Post Office, then at the Naval Air Station with Naval Air Rework Facility, where he retired with 39 years of service.
Charles was an active member of East Hill Baptist Church for more than 50 years. He met his wife, Anne Marie Tharp at the church. He was a faithful member of East Hill as a deacon and many committees over the years.
Charles was a Past Master of Escambia Masonic Lodge Number 15 with over 50 years of service. He was also a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason with over 50 years of service. He had a life membership with the York Rite Bodies.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years. Also his two children, Susan Renae McDaniel and her husband Steven, John Mark Benton and his wife Teresa, grandchildren, Alec Wayne McDaniel, Jared Gage McDaniel, Bailey Mei-Ling McDaniel, Julia Marie Benton and Charles Joseph Benton.

My name is Anita Corbin, I work at Solaris. This is where i met Mr Benton and his wife. They were such a blessing in my life. Mr. Benton touched my life in such a special way as well as his wife. He will be greatly missed but his spirit, kindness and the way he could light up a room will never be forgotten. My condolences to the family
