Charles Edward "Ed" Messer, 80, passed away on July 14, 2026. Born October 18, 1945, Ed lived a life defined by steady devotion, strength, and a generosity that asked for nothing in return. He carried himself with a workman’s pride and a ready sense of humor—never far from a well-timed line, and always guided by a heart of gold.
Ed served his country in the United States Army, and later continued that commitment through twenty years of civil service as an aircraft electrician. In every role, he brought diligence, reliability, and the kind of giving spirit that made others feel supported and seen.
He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Messer; mother, Cleo Messer; six brothers; and six sisters.
Ed is survived by his wife, Miguela Messer; son, Ed (Crystal) Messer; step-daughter, MaryAnn (Matthew) Smith; grandchildren: Jessica (Austin) Kilgore, Christopher Messer, Tara Smith, and Tristan Smith; four great-grandchildren; sister, Ola Navarro; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Visitation will be held at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home, 1985 West Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, FL 32534, on July 17, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm. A graveside service will immediately follow at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens at 3:00 pm.
In the words Ed left behind—words that captured both his warmth and his spark—“Where’s the LOVE?” and “Rock ’n Roll.”
