Charles was born the second child of Carl and Theodosia Nigh in Hagerstown, Maryland. He Graduated High School and began working for Fairchild Aviation as a mechanic. He later enlisted in the Navy during World War II in 1942. After 32 years he retired. He worked Civil Service for five years while overlapping a dry flower business on the side.
Charles enjoyed bowling and competing in various bowling tournaments while serving in the Navy. Last year Charles was inducted into the "Elite Centenarian Club" turning 100 on January 20, 2021.
He lost his wife, Betty of 67 years in 2008. He leaves behind his son James, wife Linda and four children, son Ronald wife Rosie and three children, daughter Janice and her daughter Michelle, son Bobby wife Kelly and son Gavin, daughter Patricia husband J.V. and their three children. He has numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren that will miss him as well.
His funeral will be private.
