On Thursday, July 1, 2021, Charles (Charlie) Taylor Nye passed away in his home at the age of 61 after a brave fight with cancer. Charlie was a loving husband, brother, son, friend, father, and Christian. Charlie was born in Birmingham, Alabama on December 18, 1959 to Charles H. (deceased March 13, 2021) and Rebecca T. Nye.
Charlie was a track and football athlete at Woodham High School and was a member of the graduating class of 1978. Charlie went to Florida State University on a track scholarship, completing his degree at the University of West Florida in social work. Charlie utilized his skills at various positions, finally working with his father at NYCO security. Charlie was retired at the time of his passing.
Charlie had many interests, but the one that bears noting was his ability to capture the beauty and glory that God gifted us thru His sunrises via photography. Charlie’s photos reminded us to slow down, count our blessings, and to praise our Creator.
Charlie loved his family and friends never forgetting the significance and importance of both. His love and concern for all of those in his life will be missed along with his infectious smile. Charlie was a member of East Brent Baptist Church and walked each day in his faith.
Charlie is survived by his wife Carol Ann Nye, mother Rebecca, sister Brenda (Pete) Pena, niece Rebecca Pena of New York City, NY, daughter Danielle Nicole, and grandchildren Vincent and Kilian.
Visitation is Thursday, July 8, at 1:00pm at East Brent Baptist Church with memorial services following at 2:00pm with Pastor Wade Rials officiating. The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to East Brent Baptist Church, The Charles H. Nye Endowment at Pensacola State College or the charity of your choice.
