

Charles “Charlie” Bennie Sizemore of Pensacola, Florida passed away Friday, August 9, 2024 at the incredible age of 90. Charlie was born January 25, 1934 to Elmer and Myrtle Lee (Hall) Sizemore in Dothan Alabama. As the oldest of six boys, he helped his father on the family farm before joining the US Navy at the young age of 17. Just a few short years after, he met his one and only Nellie Ruth, married in 1955, and had 2 children. Charlie had a very notable and commemorable career while in the Navy, climbing to the highest enlisted rank of Command Master Chief before his retirement after 30 years of service in 1982. Charlie is recognized as a Vietnam War veteran with many achievements and medals gained throughout his career. Charlie and Ruth settled their roots in Pensacola, Florida to raise their children Ronny and Sherry. After his retirement from the Navy, Charlie dedicated 20 years to the Pensacola Grand Hotel as the Chief Engineer. To know Charlie, is to know you have a lifelong friend. He was a dedicated sailor, devoted husband, amazing father, and incredible grandfather, who cherished all of his grandkids. His happiest days were filled with his family gathered at the house and grandkids running in the yard. You could always find him with a glass of sweet tea, an old western novel, and PGA golf on the TV.
Charlie is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Nellie Ruth (Gantt) Sizemore, father Elmer Sizemore, mother Myrtle Lee (Hall) Sizemore, and brothers Bobby Sizemore and Harold Sizemore.
Charlie is survived by his two children, Ronny Sizemore of Pensacola, Fl. and Sherry Havens Sizemore of Virginia Beach, Va., his brothers George Sizemore and David Sizemore of Dothan, Ala., Kenneth Wayne Sizemore of Avon Park Fl, Seven grandchildren - Kevin Sizemore, Jessica Rester, Megan Sizemore, Tony Sizemore, Anthony Cruz, Veronica Sizemore, Chelsea Sizemore, six great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

A Visitation for Charles will be held Friday, August 23, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 New Warrington Road, Pensacola, FL 32506. A Funeral Service will occur Friday, August 23, 2024 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, 619 New Warrington Road, Pensacola, FL 32506. A committal service will occur Friday, August 23, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Rd, Pensacola, FL 32508.
