Rebecca, So sorry to hear of Charlie's passing. I was one of his Pompano friends and very much enjoyed his knowledge, demeanor and willingness to share. He will be sorely missed in our fishing community.

My father traveled and met many people, touched many lives and moved on. I am thankful and blessed to have him as a father and the posts of the lives he touched are nice to read- he was a wonderful man and he will be missed and loved forever.

I knew Mr. Smoote back before Ivan destroyed the fishing bridge. He posted on Captain John's fishing board regularly. Charles shared his knowledge and taught greenhorns like my husband and I how to catch fish. After Captain John closed the board, we lost touch and I've often wondered about my ol' fishing buddy.

Charles had friends everywhere - just like my husband and I - people he never met, but made such an impression on that he will never be forgotten. May God grant you all the peace that passes all understanding in the loss of this wonderful man...
