1933 – 2013
Charles Clifford Smoote, Sr., joined God at the pearly gates on June 20, 2013 at the age of 79. Charles was born to William Clifford and Frances Moon Smoote in San Angelo, Texas on December 14, 1933.
He was survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Eunice Pate Smoote. He was also survived by his children; Virginia (James) Harris, Katherine Sue Smoote, William C. Smoote, Rebecca A. Bortnyik, and Charles C. Smoote, Jr. He is survived by 12 Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren. Charles' surviving siblings include his brother Stanley Dale and his sisters, Shirley Sue, Jane Katherine, Patricia Rai, and Marilyn Kay (Cookie).
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Norman, his sister Mary, and an infant daughter.
Charles C. Smoote, Sr., retired from the Air Force after over 20 years of honorable service to his country. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After the Air Force, Charles was employed as an engineer with McDonnell Douglas until his final retirement in 1996. Charles and his wife spent the following year traveling across the United States visiting friends and family before settling down in his wife's hometown, Pensacola.
Charles is a man of deep faith. His love for God, his family, and his music was immense and without fail. He will be forever missed and loved. Our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather,Great-Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and friend is strumming his favorite guitar with the heavenly Angel Band, entertaining the heavens with his beautiful music and stories of his childhood.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm., Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
