Charlotte Rose Schreiber Blanchette was born in Ocean Springs, Mississippi on July 18, 1924 to Joseph “Dode” Schreiber and Etta Schreiber and, as she would say, “God made and handed down daddy. He was the best daddy in the world.” She grew up going to the beach every day and knew everyone in town. After graduating from Ocean Springs School, she went to work at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. She met Howard Blanchette there and they married on June 28, 1951. He took a job as a mechanical engineer with the Chemstrand plant in 1953 and they moved to Pensacola, Florida. She continued with her civil service job until shortly after arriving in Pensacola (10 years of service). She volunteered as a gray lady for Baptist Hospital and was very active at Scenic Heights Baptist Church. She had two children.
She loved kids and she loved dogs and spent many a day offering her “pearls of wisdom.” She made many friends while in Pensacola, but her heart always belonged to Ocean Springs. She was a funny and wonderful wife and mother and her wit and pearls of wisdom will be greatly missed. She is survived by a sister, Lurline Hall; daughter Miriam Sawyer (Randy), Rachael Sawyer Newman; son Wally Blanchette (Rhonda), Christopher Blanchette (Amanda) and great granddaughter Addelyn Grace; Ashton B. Rivera and T.J. Rivera. She was loved.
A visitation will be held from 12 Noon to 2 pm on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home, 1985 West Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, Florida, with services to begin at 2 pm. Interment will follow at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens.
