Aunt Cheryl,
You were so much fun! You taught me how to play so many games when I was little-Simon, Skip Bo, UNO. All while enjoying too many SweetTarts and Coke a Cola.
One of my favorite memories is when you came to stay while my parents were away. You gave us Chinese Checkers and taught us how to play. Over the week, it become more and more hilarious as your long acryllic nails kept dropping the marbles, making them all scatter everywhere. We would get so tickled, we couldn’t see through the tears in our eyes and just had to start over again. It was a good week and that’s because you were so sweet and thoughtful with us.
I hope Shrimp, Sheena and Boo Boo have found you and it’s a happy reunion!
I will miss our laughs and look forward to seeing you again.

Cheryl, Thank You For: taking me in during a challenging time; long fun beach days; our chocolate covered peanuts game; childhood marathon conversations about God; and most heart-warming, were the occasions you felt dispirited and requested I do various silly things, which resulted in both of us belly-laughing :)

I’m so blessed to have known Cheryl through her sister Terri.  Cheryl was our go-to person for current events, and kept us focused on what she claimed was the real “truth.”  I will miss her guidance! 


Memories like this one and so much more have been going through my mind 24/7 these last few days! I keep scrolling through all our pictures, messages, emails, handwritten notes, and videos but I still can’t figure out how I can “formally” say my thoughts about all of this! So in the meantime, I will post a picture of the place you and Grandad would always request for our monthly lunch together back then! Oh!! How I miss these lunches!

Visited with Cheryl earlier this year and her sense of humor was still intact! So glad she is at peace. Thinking of her immediate and extended Gamewell family at this time of loss.

Cheryl,  I want you to know, how much I love you.  You are now healed and back in the arms of Mom and Dad.  You were always an inspiration to us all.  We will see each other soon again.

Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents and her son, Christopher Oldfield.
Survivors include: her brothers and sisters, Steven Gamewell, Sr. of Gainesville; Terri Chambers of Collierville, TN; Tom Gamewell of Pensacola and Shari Gamewell of Oviedo, FL; 10 nieces and nephews and 15 great nieces and nephews.
