OBITUARY

Darlene McNew Renne

April 9, 1952February 26, 2013

Darlene McNew Renne, 60, was called home by her heavenly Father early Tuesday morning. She was born in Pensacola, FL on April 9, 1952 to Layrane and Mary McNew. She married her first and only love, Joseph Renne on January 30, 1970. They were happily married for 43 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Layrane and Mary McNew, her brothers Gary, Stanley and Roger McNew; and nephews, David and Shawn Tolentino. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Renne, children, Joseph Renne Jr and Kathy Renne Post (Brad); and five grandchildren, Joseph Renne III, Nic Raburg, Elmer Turner Jr., Tyler Post, and Jonathan Post; sister, Sandra Frey (Ken); brothers, Raymond McNew (Florine), Gregory McNew, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to being a Pensacola "native" she is a graduate of Escambia High School. She grew up attending Innerarity Point Church of Christ with her mother. For the past 37 years, she has been a devoted member of Leonard Street Church of Christ. She formed many deep and lasting relationships at both congregations. Her deep love of children led her to dedicate herself as a foster parent. She fostered 667 children in her 10 years of service. Her devotion to children did not end there, but continued throughout her life in many ways. Children were one of her true delights. After that time she worked at Hackbarth Delivery Service as a courier, manager and dispatcher for 26 years. She was an example of the Proverbs 31 woman. She served others with loving kindness, generosity and passion. She took Godly joy in cooking and baking for others. To help widows and widowers through the holidays she would include them in holiday meals. She and her husband Joe spent many afternoons visiting shut ins, nursing homes and hospitals. She was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend and Christian. She loved with her whole heart. Words cannot capture the beauty her life brought to others. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and she will be deeply missed. Visitation will be held from Friday 5:00- 8:00PM, March 1, 2013 at Eastern Gate Memorial. A Funeral service will be held at Leonard Street Church of Christ on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 11:00AM. All are welcome. Entombment will follow at Eastern Gate Memorial. I came across this poem tucked in my bible given to me by a sweet dear lady who is no longer with us and I thought it was appropriate to share.

A rose once grew where all could see
Sheltered beside the garden wall
And as the days passed swiftly by,
It spread its branches straight and tall.
One day a beam of light shone through
A crevice that had opened wide.
The rose bent gently toward its warmth
And passed through to the other side.
Now, you who deeply feel its loss,
Be comforted, the rose blooms there.
It's beauty even greater there
Nurtured by God's own loving care.

May God comfort you as no words of sympathy ever could.
