Daryl Johnson

December 16, 1947 – June 25, 2025

Irvin “Daryl” Johnson, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025, at age 77. Born 12/16/1947 and raised in Pensacola. He attended Pensacola High School and Pensacola Junior College. Daryl served 4 years in the United States Air Force as a medic and acquired lifelong friends from his time in the 4756th Medical Group at Tyndall AFB, before moving to Atlanta where he worked for Graphics Atlanta as a commercial artist. He later returned to Pensacola to work in Real Estate & Investments alongside his father at IJ Johnson, Inc.

Daryl was a devoted husband. He was the most gentle and kind person you would ever meet. He was also one of the strongest people you would ever know. He avoided conflict whenever possible, and he never raised his voice to anyone. Daryl was honest, loyal and a man of his word. He had a great since of humor and loved to tell a joke. He was the kind of person that made a point to remember your name and learn something about you that he could ask you about later. He cared about people and didn’t want to make people’s lives more difficult. It was important to him that people knew how much he appreciated them. Daryl was a talented artist and master craftsman. He could make anything out of wood and liked to design things. Serving as a medic in the service came in handy when we later cared for our aging relatives.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Irvin Joseph Johnson, Ernestine Bowman Johnson and stepmother Opal Williams Johnson; and his sisters, Carolyn Johnson (Wimberly, TX) and Marilyn Tuttle (Pensacola, FL)

Daryl is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Cheryl Butler Johnson and his sister, Jane Hubbard (Tuson, AZ) and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation for friends and family will be held at 11:30 am until the memorial service begins at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Bayview Fisher Pou Chapel. A brief graveside service will be followed by a reception in the Chapel.
