David Miller Booker Sr. was born on September 5th, 1932 in Tunnel Springs, Alabama he was born to the late James Booker and Carrie Randaldson-Booker. He accepted Christ at a young age at Amity Missionary Baptist Church in Tunnel Springs, Alabama. After moving to Pensacola, Florida, he served as Usher at the Greater Union Missionary Baptist Church for several years.
He was educated in the public school system in Monroe County, graduating from Monroe County High School and he also attended Monroe County Training School in Beatrice Alabama. David was a celebrated member of the basketball and track team.
David joined the military promptly after he graduated high school. David served in the army for 8 years making the ultimate sacrifice for his country by serving in the Korean War. David was discharged from military service with a ranking of PFC E-3. David became employed at The Naval Air Station where he worked for 41 years and retired as the Transportation Supervisor. After retiring David enjoyed traveling, camping, and watching wrestling. He was a member of numerous clubs such as the motor cycle club, the van club, the CB club, the American Legion 240, and the motor home club. David served in several leadership roles including the president of White Sands, and the Florida Pan Handle RV Club.
In June 1985, David met the love of his life Ida Lett Booker and they were married September 11, 1985. After being married, David and Ida traveled all around the United States. During their 37-year marriage, they visited over 25 states and traveling together was something that they enjoyed deeply. For 25 years, the Styx River Resort was David and Ida Booker’s second home and vacation spot that they enjoyed visiting Styx River to relax and enjoy life.
On August 11th, 2023 David departed this life for his heavenly home. He truly believed that the afterlife and going to heaven to join his heavenly Father would be his ultimate blessing and salvation. There his soul shall rest in peace.
David was preceded in death by his parents; James Booker, Carrie Booker.
David leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Ida Booker, one brother, Alex and Lovain Malden (Detroit, Michigan) his sons, David Miller Booker Jr, David Blackman, James Booker and Yolanta (Fort Lauderdale, Florida), devoted son Dr. Napoleon Broughton (Houston, Texas). His daughters: Sheila Booker, devoted daughter Melanie (Steven) Mayes, 12 grand-children and a host of great grandchildren, one devoted cousin Abraham Booker, and nieces and nephews.
