David Thomas Bush, age 90, of Gulf Breeze, Florida passed away Saturday, February 8th, 2025. He was born in Shively, Kentucky on June 24th, 1934, to Charles and Shellie Bush. He was married to his high school sweetheart Alice Jean Hoback for 69 years. David served our country in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1955. After his service he studied at Indiana University and had a long career in accounting at AT&T. After retirement David and Alice moved to Gulf Breeze in 1996. He volunteered in many capacities during his long membership at First Baptist Church of Gulf Breeze. David was also a Gideon for many years and served in many positions in his local camp. A lifelong athlete, he loved basketball, tennis, golf, bowling, skiing, and softball. He played locally on Ed’s Aluminum Buildings. In 2020 he was inducted into the National Senior Softball Hall of Fame.
David was preceded in death by, Charles and Shellie Bush (parents), Ernie Bush (brother), Steve Bush (nephew), Martha Hoke (sister), and Eddy Douglas (nephew).
He is survived by Alice Bush (wife), Tamara and Kirkham Crossland (daughter/son in law), Robbin and Robin Brooks (daughter/son in law), David V. Bush (son), Perry Douglas (nephew), Danny Douglas (nephew), Stacey Mitchell (niece), and Jeff Hoke (nephew). His grandchildren, Augusta Featherston (Gael), Amber Featherston (Tyler), Thomas V Bush (Aleigha), and William Crossland (Casey). He is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Gulf Breeze or the Gideons.
A visitation will be held Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 10-11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Gulf Breeze, 555 Fairpoint Drive, Gulf Breeze, FL 32561 with a funeral service to follow. There will be a reception following the funeral service. David will be laid to rest at Bayview Memorial Park, 3351 Scenic Hwy., Pensacola, FL 32503.
