Debbie was born on August 19,1953 to Jack and Jean Sanders in Camella, Georgia, and spent her childhood in Jacksonville, Florida.
Her life was full of love, adventure, laughter, and a little bit of fire!
On June 29, 1974, Debbie began her greatest adventure when she married her beloved husband, Mitch. As a military spouse, she traveled wherever duty took her family, making a home and building a life along the way. Debbie spent most of her years as a stay-at-home mom, a role she truly treasured. Although she worked outside the home at different times, including security at a military PX, as an EMT, and even as a bouncer at a bar, her greatest passion was always holding down the fort at home and taking care of her family.
Debbie faced many health challenges throughout her life, but they never took away her spirit or her determination to live life on her own terms. She still loved shopping, tagging along on whatever crazy adventure Mitch had planned, and making sure everyone knew when they had crossed the line. Debbie had a way of keeping people in check, and she was never one to back down from letting someone know when they needed to straighten up!
Her final years brought some of her hardest battles, but Debbie remained Debbie until the very end. No matter what she was going through, she never lost that feisty spirit or her willingness to threaten to “beat a tail” when someone got out of line. That was simply who she was—strong-willed, outspoken, fiercely loyal, and unforgettable.
Debbie leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, laughter, and stories that will be told for years to come. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her adventurous spirit, her sharp tongue, and the unmistakable personality that could fill a room.
She was loved deeply, she lived life her own way, and she certainly made sure nobody forgot her.
