Dewaine was born January 24, 1950 to Harry D. and Lois B. Hall in Bethesda,Maryland. Dewaine lost his birth mother Lois at the age of 3 to cancer. Harry then met Mabel Rhodes of Flomaton, Alabama and they married, Mabel later adopting Dewaine at the age of 5. Dewaine traveled as a child with his Navy family, settling in Pensacola, Florida to grow up. Dewaine was active in cross country and had a love for fishing, boating, and fast cars. He was a graduate of the Escambia High School Class of 1968. Dewaine later went on to complete his college education as an adult and graduated from the University of West Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Building Construction. Dewaine was dedicated to helping others attain home ownership which demonstrated his servant’s heart. He worked tirelessly in his career and retired from Habitat for Humanity at the age of 67. Dewaine and his wife Beth, were both active members of Olive Baptist Church.
Dewaine enjoyed spending time with family, being near and on the water, and sharing a good meal, especially seafood. Dewaine shared many good times with his family during the Christmas holiday, with he and Beth hosting the children and grandchildren for Christmas Eve. Dewaine always emphasized a focus on Christ and instilled the tradition of reading the Christmas story from the Bible before any gifts were exchanged or opened. Dewaine was a quiet and private man, but expressed his love for others through his actions with no expectation of acknowledgement.
