He had a 25 year career as a Police Officer for the City of Pittsburgh. He was a devout Christian and loved God, his family and his country. Donald was a decorated war veteran. He served in the US Army in the Korean War and was a POW for 2 1/2 years. He was a member of DAV, and American Legion. Donald also had a passion for football, health and fitness.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Bittner, his parents John and Mary Bittner and his brothers Jack and Raymond.
Donald is survived by his daughter Linda Winter (Ken Winter); son Ronald Haefele (Peggy Haefele); son John Bittner (Susan Bittner); grandchildren Brian Winter (Denise Winter); Kenny Winter (Heather Winter), Chad Haefele and great-grandchildren Justin, Kaylin, and Brianna. He is also survived by his sister Elizabeth “Boots” Glass and brother-in-law Larry Sieg (Debbie Sieg); nephews Ryan Sieg (Brandi Sieg) and Brandon Sieg (Tracy Sieg) and two great nephews and one great niece in FL and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews in PA.
