

Dorothy (Dot) Louise Davis was born on October 6, 1947 in Memphis, TN. She was raised in Ocean Springs, MS until she left for college. She passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025 at her home in Pensacola, FL.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Douglas Wilson and mother, Bessie Louise Gallop. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, James (Jim) Davis, her daughter Angela VanWinkle (Pete), stepson Danny Davis (May), stepdaughter Beth Reynolds (Brad), and three grandsons: Eric VanWinkle, Jacob Crowe and Pace Davis.
She led a very active life that included horses, dancing, fishing, boating, flying, and traveling. As a young woman, she showed Tennessee Walking Horses and barrel raced in rodeos. Jim and Dot met on the dance floor in 1984 in Marietta, GA. She was a member of and Secretary for the Les Debbonaire’s formal ballroom club. She was also a member of the Rhythm Lover’s Dance Club and the Grotto Hall Dance Club. She preferred deep sea off-shore fishing and caught many marlin throughout the years. They used their personal airplane to travel for many of their adventures. She was a member of the Pensacola Big Game Fishing Club, and the Pensacola Ladies Billfish Club where she was the President and Tournament Director four years in a row. She was an active member of Saint Thomas More Catholic Church for 29 years and a member of the Ladies Alter Society. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 37 years.
She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) in Hattiesburg, in 1969 with double B.S. degrees in Theoretical Mathematics and Analytical Chemistry. She was a featured majorette with the Dixie Darlings at USM. She had also won many beauty pageants on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Her long technical career began with the CDC in Atlanta, GA where she worked as a statistician. When computers were invented, she quickly fell in love with software engineering and worked for Wang Laboratories in Billerica, MA for 15 years as a computer software engineer where she worked remotely and traveled the world. She designed many custom systems for international corporations. When Wang Laboratories dissolved, she went to work with Water’s Corporation, in Milford, MA. After working at Water’s for 15 years, she retired in 2014 which allowed her to fish and travel more.
A visitation for Dorothy will be held Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 New Warrington Road, Pensacola, FL 32506. A funeral mass will occur Monday, April 7, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at St Thomas More Catholic Church, 3295 Barrancas Ave, Pensacola, FL 32507. A committal will occur Monday, April 7, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Rd, Pensacola, FL 32508.
