

Dottie was born on December 4,1927 to Harry and Gladys Stockwell in Athol, Massachusetts. After graduating from Athol High School, she went on to build a career in the Washington, D.C. area.
In 1947, Dottie married Edward (Eddie) Gallagher in Massachusetts, and together they shared 10 wonderful years. Edward served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Marcia Jeanne Gallagher (Dumas) was born in 1948. Later, Dottie and Eddie moved to Miami, FL area for Eddie’s duty assignment. David Alan Gallagher (MaryAnn) was added to the family in 1953 while living in Florida.
Dottie lost Eddie in 1957 while they were living at his assigned duty, Cherry Point, N.C., following an automobile accident.
Dottie married Ronald (Ron) Ian Wark in 1958. William (Bill) Wayne Wark was born in 1959, followed by Kathryn (Kathy) Ann Wark (Mangum) in 1960.
Dottie and Ron moved to the Beaufort, S.C. area in 1962, due to Ron’s US Marine assignment at the US Marine Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. Dottie worked for Civil Service assignments during this era at Beaufort Air Station and on Parris Island.
A single mother, Dottie met Clifton Lewis, a US Marine serving in Beaufort. They married but Lewis passed after less than a year.
When Clifton Lewis passed, Dottie’s Civil Service employment years led her to leave the Beaufort area to Monterey, CA and the Navy Language School for several years.
Dottie began to miss East Coast area, and secured a position at the Orlando Training Center, FL. Due to health concerns, Dottie relocated to Pensacola, FL, to be closer to family.
Dottie’s son Bill met his wife Antonia, and they provided Dottie with four grandchildren. Kathryn (Kathy) and Jerry Mangum added two more grandchildren to the group. Marcia and Joe Dumas added five grands to her family, and David and MaryAnn brought two more. Dottie’s grandchildren and many great grandchildren live scattered across the United States as far as Hawaii, and the world including Spain. Dottie knew her many great-great grandchildren through travel, Facebook, video calls, and electronic communications.
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents Harry Stockwell, Gladys Stockwell Gorman, her sister Ann Fernet, her son William Wark, and granddaughter Kristen Mangum Schlicker.
Dottie loved travel, Bingo, reading, puzzles, knitting, and dancing. She also loved all her friends she gained at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church. Always one for socializing, her favorite activities included NCCW, Tuesday morning craft group, rummage sales, and bazaars.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Nativity of Our Lord Church on July 14 at 12 Noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nativity of Our Lord Church or your choice of Veterans Organizations.
