Dorothy Penton

Born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to Thelma and Luther Smith, Dorothy led a life marked by dedication and love for her family and community. She was a bookkeeper at the Pensacola Navy Exchange, where she contributed her skills with diligence and commitment.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Earl Penton. She is survived by her children Ricky Penton (Suzy) and Vickie Estridge (Joe), her Grandsons Ryan Childers (Megan) and Chase Childers (Courtenay), as well as 9 Great Grandchildren, who all cherish her memory and the legacy she left behind.

A devoted mom, grandma and great grandma, Dorothy was also very passionate about Alabama football, a good game of Bunko with her ‘girls group’ and she contributed countless hours at the Warrington Elks Lodge.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the visitation, which will be held on November 13, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, located at 619 New Warrington Road, Pensacola, FL 32506. The funeral service will follow at 5:00 pm at the same location.

The committal service will take place on November 14, 2025, at 10:00 am at Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Rd, Pensacola, FL 32508.
