She attended St. John’s Catholic School and Bellefonte High School, in Bellefonte, PA. She met her high school sweetheart, Stroade Shay in 1950 and they married May 14, 1955, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bellefonte, PA.
She and Stroade had one son, John S. Shay, Jr. They have two grandsons, Michael and Christopher. Dorothy followed Stroade around the world from 1955 to 1981, at his Navy duty stations during his career. During their marriage, Dorothy was a loving Wife and Mother. She was interested in various crafts and was also a voracious reader of novels.
The funeral service will be held at Oak Lawn Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 11am with visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place at Barrancas National Cemetery at 12:30pm. Oak Lawn Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
