Edith Durelle Tripp Townley, age 94, went home to be with the Lord on March 20, 2019. She was a longtime resident of Pensacola, but was also a very proud Texas native, born in Denison on January 12, 1925. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Jesse Tripp and Jennie Tripp Chandler, her four siblings, and her husband of 53 years, Reverend Walter Brooks Townley, Jr. She is survived by her son, Walter Stephen Townley (Angela) of Pace, Florida and her daughter. Lois Townley Branan (Chris) of Moriarty, New Mexico, as well as four granddaughters, Alyssa Yount (Chandler), Kimeran Johnson (Jack), Falyn Kopidlansky (Joe), Cheyenne Branan, and one grandson, William Branan. She has four great grandsons: Colby Yount, Camden Yount, Cooper Yount and Barrett Johnson, and a great granddaughter, Irelyn Johnson.
In 1947, Durelle graduated from Mary Hardin-Baylor College in Belton, Texas. She attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas where she met her husband, Walter. Durelle loved her Lord and Savior and served faithfully beside her husband as he ministered in churches in Florida, Virginia and South Carolina for 40 years. She taught Sunday School, worked in Woman’s Missionary Union, and served in various other church capacities. In recent years she has been a member of First Baptist Church, Milton, Florida, where her husband served on staff from 1962-1970. She was employed as a social worker in Florida and later in South Carolina. Durelle loved to cook and bake as well as to sew and crochet. She also did oil paintings. She is loved and respected by her family and will be greatly missed. The family is grateful for her Godly influence in their lives.

Funeral services will be held at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel Pensacola on Monday, March 25 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m – 11:00 a.m. Entombment will be held at Bayview Memorial Park.
