Eddie Lou Singletary

1919 – 2011

Singletary, Eddie Lou Church passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at the age of 92.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Singletary, Sr.; her grandson, Chip Singletary; three brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her son, Leon, Jr. (Bonnie) of Orlando, FL and daughter, Mary Ann LeGrone (Don) of Hoover, AL. She was “Merner” to Paul LeGrone (Faith) of Cornersville, TN; Stephen LeGrone (Laurie) of Greensboro, NC; Susan LeGrone Alexander (Gary) of Columbia, SC; Rebecca LeGrone Walters (Travis) of Franklin, TN and Noel Singletary Cruce (Nate) of Greenville, FL. She has eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Pensacola for forty-seven years. She had served with her husband for many years in the preschool Sunday School and was a member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class. Having been a “foster grandparent” at Sacred Heart Hospital was one of the joys of her life.

The family would like to thank Sonya Thomas and Phyllis Sjodin for their love and concern for Mom especially during the last few years.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 26, 2011 at James L. Pleitz Chapel, First Baptist Church with private burial following at Bayview Memorial Park. Dr. Barry Howard will officiate.

The visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

The family requests that memorials be given to First Baptist Church, The ROC, 500 N. Palafox Street, Pensacola, FL 32501 or the Florida Baptist Children’s Home, 1015 Sikes Blvd., Lakeland, FL 33815.
