Eddie Wood, 78, passed away on December 30, 2017, in Pensacola, Florida and was born in Georgia on November 16, 1939.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marrowl and Ethal Coker Wood, and four brothers: M.L. Jr., Bannister M. “Woody,” Royce and Edward. He is survived by his brothers Ronnie of Pensacola and Jimmy (Phyllis) of Adairsville, Georgia; sons Tony and Michael (Becky) of Pensacola; daughter Heather (Jeremy) Stewart of Robertsdale, Alabama; nieces Bertha (Jimmy) Dodge of Pensacola and Stella (Bobby) Baker of Gulf Breeze; three grandsons: Christian Wood, Dustin and Lane Stewart; four granddaughters: Katelynn Romine, Shelby Wood and Abigail and Jocelyn Stewart; and one great grandson, Jordan Jones. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and many neighborhood children he helped to raised.
In 1963 he moved to Pensacola, Florida, and became an entrepreneur, first owning a Texaco station for 10 years and later developing multiple dry cleaners and Modern Day Laundry Mat. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He loved being outside and being surrounded by his family, friends and two dogs, Rambo and Zeus. He loved watching his grandchildren and other people enjoy the land on which he worked so hard.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family on Monday, January 8, 2018, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Eastern Gate.
