1926 - 2014
Edgar O. McCall of Milton, Florida passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at his home. He was eighty eight years old. Ed was originally from Portsmouth, Ohio. He enlisted in the US Navy after high school. While stationed at NAS Pensacola, he met and married Rebecca Waters. Following the end of his active duty military career, he attended the school of Engineering at the University of Florida. He remained a stalwart Gator fan thru the years. Edgar's career as a Mechanical Engineer took his family from Gainesville, Florida to South Charleston, West Virginia to Pensacola, Florida to Saint Louis, Missouri to Warner Robins, Georgia; and finally back to the city he loved the best, Pensacola, Florida.Ed was an avid learner and enjoyed the study of engineering, history, politics, and gardening. He enjoyed his years as a golfer at Scenic Hill CC. In his later years, he engaged in serious study of nutrition and alternative healthcare treatments for cancer.
Throughout his life he was a lover of music; listening intently to the big band songs on the radio during his youth to collecting CDs of musicians he discovered in his 80's. He loved to share his musical discoveries with his family and friends. He had just begun a study of the fundamentals of Jazz at 88. Edgar was preceded in death by his wife Rebecca Waters McCall.
He is survived by his two daughters, Leslie Ann Green and spouse Terry Delane Green of Citronelle, Alabama, Stella Lynn McCall of Pace, Florida, sister-in-law Annette Cosson of Jacksonville, Florida, sister-in-law Betty Waters of Warner Robins, Georgia, sister-in-law Clarice Waters of Mobile, Alabama, grandchildren John David Green and spouse Leslie (Stahl) Green, Joanna (Green) Neal and spouse Harley Neal, Stephen Delane Green, Jacob McCall Mullins and great-grandchildren Porter Elijah Neal, Justus Josiah Neal, and Noey Rebecca Neal.
Visitation with reception will be held Friday, April 25, 2104 from 11:30am-12:30pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home 619 New Warrington Road, Pensacola, FL 32506. Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm immediately following the visitation. Procession will follow to Barrancas National Cemetery. Ed will be laid to rest with full military honors. Pallbearers will be John David Green, Stephen Green, Jacob Mullins, Harley Neal, Jeff Waters and Bill Meharg. Oak Lawn Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements
