Edith was born on October 22, 1930, in Monroe, Louisiana to Horace and Sue Walters. She was raised in Monroe and moved to Pensacola in 1945.
Edith joined East Hill Baptist Church in 1946, and there, met the love of her life Charlie Bobe. She attended East Hill Baptist at both Gadsden Street and Spanish Trail when the church moved, and was active in the church when East Hill integrated with Hillcrest Baptist. She was active in and especially enjoyed the fellowship of her Sunday School class. Her faith and the friendships she made there were an important part of her life.
Edith graduated from Pensacola High School in 1949.
On April 9, 1949 Edith and Charlie married and settled in Pensacola where they built a life and raised their four children. Her hobbies were cooking and collecting antique glass and spending time with family.
She enjoyed traveling to the North Georgia mountains with her good friends Jack and Elsie Wolters and being in the mountains for leaf fall on her birthday every year.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Sue Walters, her loving husband of 62 years Charlie.
She is survived by her brother, Horace M. Walters, Jr, Colorado Springs, Colorado; her children, Phil and Jan; Susan and Norman Brown; Steve and Kim, all of Pensacola and Corey and Amelia, of Milton, Florida; seven grandchildren, Alyson (Scott) Houseknecht, David (Christine) Brown, Stephen (Mandy) Bobe, Ashley (Israel) Butt, Casey (Lauren) Bobe, David Bobe and Jessica Bobe and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers are Casey Bobe, Scott Houseknecht, Lucas Houseknecht, Stephen Bobe, David Brown and David Bobe.
A celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel & Bayview Memorial Park, 3351 Scenic Hwy, Pensacola, Florida 32503.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel with services to follow at Noon. The interment will be at Bayview Memorial Park.
