
Edward Buczek died ¬¬¬June 25, 2011 after a short illness. He was 91. Ed was born in Chicago Heights, IL but moved to New Milford, CT with his family at age 2 months. He worked for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Co. until he joined the navy during WWII and served in the Pacific. After the war, he returned to CT to work for Doman Helicopters in Danbury developing an early helicopter prototype. He joined Sikorsky aircraft as a field engineer and worked on many different helicopter models for the US military in numerous US and foreign locations during a long career. During the Vietnam War he spent long periods of time supporting Marine helicopter squadrons in Vietnam and Okinawa. He served with the Presidential helicopter squadron near Washington, DC during the Ford administration. His final assignment was at NAS Pensacola in Florida and decided to retire there. His wife of 50 years, Eleanor, predeceased him. Survivors include 2 children, Maryellen and Thomas, 5 grandchildren, and 2 sisters.
A Visitation will be held Friday July 1, 6-8 pm at Oaklawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday July 2 at the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
