Elaine Moore Weaver

In 1982, she married Dewitt Weaver. Dewitt was the love of Elaine’s life. Together they enjoyed traveling, often accompanied by Elaine’s brother and sister-in-law, Olin and Dolores. Elaine and Dewitt also enjoyed fishing, spending time with family and friends, playing with their grandchildren, and building their dream home together.

Elaine was a woman of many talents throughout her life. She would welcome friends and family into her home with a warm smile, an open heart, and often a witty joke. Those closest to her knew of her artistic ability and would often admire her beautiful paintings and crafts. Elaine enjoyed spending weekends at local craft fairs both admiring other’s talents and showing her own beautiful works. She was a gifted seamstress who would make clothing for her children, Halloween and event costumes for her grandchildren, and various other crafts and décor. Elaine was as talented in the kitchen as she was with a brush or a needle, frequently preparing delicious meals for herself and her loved ones. Elaine’s sense of humor was a continual source of entertainment for her family and friends. Her famous catchphrase was, “that reminds me of a joke!”

She is preceded in death by her parents, Karen and Olin Mumford; her brother, Olin Mumford, Jr.; her sister-in-law and best friend, Dolores Mumford; her beloved husband, Dewitt Weaver; the father of her children, Tom Moore; her daughter, Kathy Rock; and, her granddaughter, Jessica Moore.

She is survived by her daughters Janet Rogers (Jerry), Laura Byrd (Michael); her son Michael Moore (Jodi); her grandsons Derek Bradley (Ashley), Daniel Kingswell (Abby), Andrew Kingswell (Michael); her granddaughters Stephanie Damasceno (Victor), Andrea Brazel (Joshua), Rachel Sonnier (Cody); her great-grandchildren Lucas Damasceno, Alex Damasceno, Molly McKay, Emily Harris, Elena Sonnier, Haylie Williams and Ryder Phillips; her dear friends Don Fretwell and Elene Griffith; and her dog, Trudy.

The family would like to thank Vitas Hospice and their wonderful caregivers, including Jamie, Renae, and Allison.

Please join us in remembering and honoring Elaine's life at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel on Friday, December 29, 2023. The visitation will be held at 12:00 PM followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00pm, and her interment in Bayview Memorial Park.
