Esther Demorest Moore

1914 – 2012

Our beloved Essie is at peace and surrounded by God’s glory. We will truly miss her kindness and love that she has given to so many friends and family. She passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the age of 98. Born in Columbus, Ohio, she moved from St. Petersburg in 1984 to Gulf Breeze.

Esther was a devoted member of St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Gulf Breeze. She loved her extended family at St. Francis. She taught the Children’s Sunday School Class, was the President of the Women’s Group and a member of the Altar Guild. Her bible study group was very special and they continued to support her while she resided at the Villas.

Her life was filled with many executive business and civic positions, including the Girl Scout Council, the Red Cross, the March of Dimes, Lions Club, Board of Realtors and so many more organizations. At one time she was an owner and operator at the Riptide Motel in Panama City, Florida.

Esther retired from City Fuel Oil Company as credit manager in 1976 and in 1983 from various other bookkeeping positions. She loved the credit world and taught courses in credit management. She attended Ohio State University, majoring in English, but had to end her college days when World War II broke out in order to help with the war effort.

She enjoyed gardening, reading, creative writing, travel and camping. She loved to “DANCE” and is certainly dancing with the Lord.

Preceding Esther in death are her parents, Clark W. Demorest and Florence Winters Demorest and her three sisters, Helen, Mildred and Florence.

She is survived by her niece, Barbara Ashley; nephews, Bill Yost and Richard Yost; great nieces, Demi Belanger (Mike), Wynters Ashley, Irie Vance (Buddy) and Jennifer Wilson (Randy); great nephew, Michael Yost; family member, Chris Yost; great great nephews, Ashton, Shane, Patrick, Joey and Weathers; also several members of the Moore Family.

We would like to offer a special thank you to the staff of The Villas in Gulf Breeze, Covenant Hospice and the Council on Aging. We are also grateful for her wonderful friends Sara Lee and Trish.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 27, 2012 at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Gulf Breeze with The Rev. Christiana Olsen officiating with a reception to follow in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Esther’s name to St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church, 1 St. Francis Drive, Gulf Breeze, FL 32561 or Covenant Hospice, 5041 N. 12th Avenue, Pensacola, FL 32504.

Entombment will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Bayview Memorial Park.
