Joe was born on December 6, 1937, in Quezon City, Philippines, to Roman and Leocadia Jose. As a young man, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served his adopted country for 22 years. He became a naturalized United States citizen on February 9, 1971.
Joe loved his home and took great pride in caring for it. He enjoyed gardening, spending time in his yard, and working on home improvement projects. He was also an avid cook and enjoyed watching boxing.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Roberto, Benjamin, and Ricardo; his sister, Leonora; and his son-in-law, Jason Emmons.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Jacquin; his sons, Patrick of Milton, Florida, John (Stefanie) of Louisville, Kentucky, and Michael (John) of Bowdoinham, Maine; his daughters, Patricia of Milton, Florida, and Jennifer Emmons of Pace, Florida; and his beloved grandsons, Bryson, Liam, and Paxton. He is also survived by his brother, Virgilio; his sisters, Elisa, Zenaida, and Teresita; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Above all, Joe cherished his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved. He was immensely proud of his children and took great satisfaction in their accomplishments and the lives they built. Joe was known for his charm, wit, and playful sense of humor. Whether sharing a joke, a story, or a teasing remark, he had a special way of making people smile. His love, laughter, guidance, and quiet strength will be treasured always by those fortunate enough to have known him.
Joe will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his faithful service to his country, and the love and care he shared with everyone around him.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel in Pensacola, Florida. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m., with burial to follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
