Florence Goodson

Florence “Betty” Crooke Goodson was taken home by the angels in the early morning hours of Monday, November 13, 2017 at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her mother, Clementine A. Nelson and father, Bob S. Crooke, her only son, Barlyn (Barry) Goodson, and her husband, Thomas (Tommy) H. Goodson.

She is survived by daughters DeAnsin Parker, Cathy Ballard, Alisa Love and grandchildren, Damien Parker, Nicole Hartwick, Preston, Barry, Summer Dawn, Tommy Blue, Jeffrey, Bonnie and Isabel Ballard. Also, she leaves behind many beloved family and friends.

Betty was born in Pensacola, Florida on October 16, 1923 at The Maternity Ward located on Palafox. She was the second born of nine children and one of only two girls in her family. She met her husband, Thomas Hugh Goodson a Navy pilot who was stationed in Pensacola, as she worked in the ticket booth of the movie theater downtown Pensacola. They were married for 61 years only to be separated by losing his fight against cancer.

Mrs. Goodson was one of the kindest, loving and selfless people you could ever meet. A devout Catholic, she loved everyone praying for any and all the requested it or just needed a grandmothers special prayer.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 18, 2017 with a reception to follow at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel. Father Pathe will be officiating.
