Cheryl was born in Pensacola, Florida. A real native. After a recent illness, she passed away peacefully at Homestead Village. She attended local schools and was in the first Graduating Class of 1962 at Escambia High School. Go Rebels! She completed some college at Pensacola Junior College before marrying and working at Monsanto for 23 years. A job she truly loved. Her next career of 29 years, which she also loved, until her retirement, was with Children's Medical Services, where again she made life-long friendships. She always took pride in her work and relationships with those around her. She enjoyed decorating the office for all occasions with her own special style. She became the "squirrel" and racoon lady by daily feeding them on her breaks, the right kind of treats! Cheryl was a kind, beautiful and loving spirited, gentle person who always thought about others. Cheryl handled what life handed her, with dignity, grace and poise. Shy, but outrageously funny, at the same time. Some of her passions included sending greeting cards for all occasions, buying little endearment items when occasions arose, antiquing, collecting Elvis and Pensacola memorabilia. Your special moments became hers.
She is preceded in death by her, mother and stepfather, Evelyn (John) Cherry, her father August Henderson, her brother Gary Henderson, Grandfather Robert L Gresham, and many aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her loving sister Gail Cherry Rappa (Ray), nephew Scott Hall (Sarah), great nieces and nephews Natalie and Nathan Hall, Colten, Alex and Wes Skipper along with a special cousin Doyle Gresham and her stepmother Barbara Henderson (Virginia).
There will be a celebration of life with a reception, at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Highway, Saturday, March 21, 2026, at noon. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Wildlife Sanctuary of NW Florida, 105 N "S" St, Pensacola, Fl 32505, which she dearly loved or an organization of your choice.
