George William Alverson Jr.

George was born September 21, 1944 in Memphis, TN to George William Alverson, Sr. and Helen Alverson. He worked as a firefighter in Memphis for many years before moving to Pensacola in the mid 80’s where he worked in auto sales until a fall in 2004 forced him into early retirement. Since that time, he has been a wonderful stay-at-home husband and dad and has taken great pride in that job. George had a big heart and truly enjoyed his children and grandchildren. In earlier years, he was a foster parent and eager to help the little ones who needed a home, so much so that he and his wife adopted their two daughters from foster care.

George is predeceased by his father and by his son, Eric John Alverson.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Bonnie Eason Alverson, Gulf Breeze, FL; mother, Helen Alverson, Oklahoma City, OK; sons George William (Trey) Alverson, III, Nashville, TN, Timothy Martin (Penny), Knoxville, TN; daughters, Jill Mayes (Steve), Gulf Breeze, Ashley Alverson, Gulf Breeze and Natalie Alverson, Pensacola; grandchildren, Gavin and Abigail Mayes, Gulf Breeze; Elena and Curtis Martin, Knoxville, TN; sister, Maurice Davis (Ed), Oklahoma City, OK; and several nieces and nephews.
