George (Dee) L. Gagnon, 101, died Wednesday, May 09, 2012.
Dee was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and has resided in Pensacola since 1940. He was one of the founders of the Northwest Florida Blood Center and remained actively involved in multiple positions for 50 years. Dee officiated area football games with the FHSAA and served as softball scorekeeper at area Civitan parks for many years. He was an avid golfer at Scenic Hills Country Club, Pensacola Country Club, and Perdido Bay Country club successfully scoring a hole in one! Dee began his career with Federal Civil Service as a sheet metal apprentice and retired as Supervisor of Production & Planning at NAS Pensacola. George (Dee) lived a full and active life contributing much time and effort to community improvement.
Dee is preceded in death by wives, Wilma Gagnon and Merrill (Ann) Gagnon; daughter, Diane Nelms; grandchild, Kempton Bramen; 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Survivors include his daughters: Gayle Rosenblatt, Brenda Robinson, and Vallirrie Barnett; grandchildren, Kelly Shultz (Tanner), Gregory Craddock (Margaret), Edward “Brad” Rosenblatt (Carol), Scott Robinson, Ashley Cunningham (Darrin), Sean Goodwin (Jan), Tracie Stillinger (Guy), Gary Goodwin Jr (Monique), Lauree Robinson, Leslie Edwards; 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; three sisters; Eve Gagnon, Simone Karoff, and Diane Perry.
The family wishes to thank the staff at The Veranda of Pensacola, Emerald Coast Hospice, TLC sitters, and his friends Sherri and Wayne of Wayne’s Diner.
A memorial service will be held Thursday May 17, 2012 at 11:00 in Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northwest Florida Blood Center, 1999 E Nine Mile Rd, 32504.
