Gerald Peter Brocato

Gerald Peter Brocato, 88, was born on February 19, 1938, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and moved with his family to Pensacola, Florida, in 1942. On November 26, 1959, he married the love of his life, Judy M. Brocato, and together they shared 67 years of devotion, partnership, and family.

Gerald began his professional career with the City of Pensacola as a Crew Ridesman before becoming Chief Draftsman. He later worked for several architectural firms and earned both his Florida General Contracting License in 1973 and Architectural License in 1974. The highlight of his career was his long service as an Architect for the 1st Special Operations Civil Engineer Squadron, 1st Special Operations Wing at Hurlburt Field, where he worked from 1989 until his retirement in 2014.

He was a devout Catholic whose joys included yard work, planting trees, Italian food, football, especially the Florida Gators and New Orleans Saints, building bluebird houses, bird watching, drawing, and architecture. Known for his distinct whistle and playful Mickey Mouse impressions, Gerald brought warmth and laughter to every room.

Gerald is survived by his beloved wife, Judy, along with their two daughters and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his two siblings.

Gerald was fiercely loved by his family and friends, who relied on him for support, guidance, and a hearty meal. His kindness, meticulous nature, and joyful spirit leave a legacy that will be cherished forever.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 22, for immediate family members only.
